About the coatings we use

Century Corrosion Technologies, Inc. serves many different clients with different protective coating needs. Listed are some of the coating system types we specialize in applying: tank linings, epoxies, phenolics, polyesters, coal tars, inorganic & organic zincs, urethanes, epoxy claddings, single component moisture cured urethanes, state-of-the-art thermal-spray of aluminum and zinc, air dried, chemically-cured and baked-on processes.

  1. A word about "systems." It takes several coats of protective material to protect your equipment properly. A quick brush-blast with grit followed by one coat of paint is practically useless. Our customers supply us with a name or code for a specific coating "system" of primers, tie coats (intermediates), and finish coats to use on their equipment, and we take it from there.
  2. After the metal has been grit blasted, a zinc or epoxy primer goes down first. Next, we apply an intermediate if a zinc primer has been used. This is necessary for a good bond between the zinc primer and the finish coats. Finally, the finish coats are applied. Usually, finish coats will be epoxy or urethanes, and the number of coats will be determined by the particular system specified. It is interesting to note that Century uses different color primers, intermediates and finish coats, so that it is easier to visually check for complete coverage. We also, do specialty coatings such as Thermal Spray applications.
